These groups provide students with healthy ways to cope with their feelings of grief and loss in the familiarity of their own school.
Children spend a significant portion of their day in the school environment. For this reason, school staff members are often placed in primary support roles with students grieving the loss of a loved one. Cornerstone of Hope seeks to equip schools by providing grief support and education services for staff, students, and families.
Cornerstone of Hope Provides:
Cornerstone of Hope provides support groups to help children and adolescents who have experienced the death of a loved one. Groups last eight weeks for approximately 60 minutes. Groups are made up of up to 10 children or teens and are offered for Kindergarten through 12th Grade, and often utilize art as an intervention to express grief reactions. Groups will be determined by age and developmental appropriateness. Groups are based on staff availability.
